Yadd takes to music to spearhead drug abuse awareness campaign

YOUTH Against Alcoholism and Drug Dependency (Yadd) will tomorrow join forces with renowned reggae band House of Stone to launch an anti-drug abuse campaign aimed at combating substance abuse among young people in Zimbabwe.

e event will take place at Rugare Gardens in Dombotombo, Marondera.

With the alarming rise of drug abuse cases among the youth, Yadd is taking a proactive approach to raise awareness and promote prevention. By partnering with the House of Stone reggae band, the campaign aims to inspire positive change and empower young people to make informed decisions.

e event promises to be a captivating experience, bringing together education, entertainment, and creativity. Expert speakers and influencers will deliver engaging talks and presentations, shedding light on the physical, emotional, and social consequences of substance abuse.

In addition to the speeches and live performances, interactive workshops will be conducted to foster dialogue and equip young people with practical tools to resist the pressures associated with drug dependency. Local artists will contribute to the cause by showcasing thought-provoking artwork and installations, emphasising the impact of drug abuse on individuals, families, and communities.

Event organiser Tunga Zimondi said they believe that a resilient and drug-free society can be built to offer young people a brighter future adding that their aim is to target young people between the ages of 12 and 25.

“Yadd seeks to encourage individuals, families, educators, and community leaders to participate in a collective effort to eradicate substance abuse in Zimbabwe, by working together and supporting one another,” Zimondi told Independentxtra.

Yadd is a local youth-led organisation dedicated to raising awareness about substance abuse. It supports individuals and communities affected by drug dependency. Yadd also focuses on prevention, education, and rehabilitation, striving to create a drug-free society for a brighter future.
