NDS Phase I an incredible move

I have been in the engineering field for almost two decades in senior positions at various industries ranging from mining to multinational manufacturing facilities, I come with great applicable wealth of experience, knowledge, and considerable ingenuity. I founded SAKE Energy Solutions in 2016 when renewable energy wasn’t the buzz word yet but saw the gap and started working on the solutions addressing specifically the energy sector and at the time , I was still just providing consulting, training and advisory services to assist clients in achieving their net zero objectives and improving plant efficiencies in various process plants.

I have been keeping a close ear to the ground concerning any new developments and progress making waves in the increase of power supply by use of renewable energy sources particularly in Zimbabwe, and other Southern African countries, and interestingly ,

I have found that in recent years, the Zimbabwean government rolled out a National Development Strategy Phase 1 (2021 -2025) with its one of the targets being , to increase power supply from the current installed capacity of 2.317 MW to 3.467 MW by 2025, with 1.100 MW from renewable energy sources. This is no doubt an incredible move in the right direction, utilising the available resources, with the full support from the government. This also creates an opportunity for partners like us to gear up for these new exciting prospects.

The ever-increasing need for large-scale applications of solar,windor hydropowerhas become more prominentin today’s energy structure as the demand for renewable energy sources increases.

As with any large undertaking, construction, operation, and maintenance of these plants (hydro, geothermal, solar, green hydrogen, and waste-to-energy/ biogas) is not without challenges, and we have designed project packages to make the journey bearable.

I was glad to hear, from Permanent Secretary’s presentation earlier, that there is still a great demand and opportunities for renewable energy in the larger industrial applications like mines and large factories. She further highlighted the Ministry’s commitment to the development and adoption of renewable energy technologies.

It was truly such a great pleasure to have been part of such positive informative conversations around advancing towards a greener future.
