Zim singer features on Fifa 23 soundtrack

ZIMBABWEAN singer and songwriter Takura Tendayi’s collaboration with Chase & Status — an English electronic music duo composed of Saul Milton and Will Kennard landed on Fifa 23 Soundtrack, following the footsteps of other diaspora-based Zimbabwean musicians such as Takudzwa Tkay Maidza, Bantu and Dr. Chaii.

Last week, the official Fifa 23 soundtrack was finally revealed and EA Sports delivered a global playlist comprised of songs from various artists hailing from different parts of the world including Takura who held it down for Zimbabwe with a song titled Don’t Be Scared.

e song was initially released as the lead single for Chase & Status’ sixth studio album titled What Came Before along with accompanying visuals on March 14, 2022.

“is is the first video from our album cover rave, it was one of the most raw and authentic nights we have ever been a part of and it was made that way by every person in the room, unified under one roof,” said the band in a press release that accompanied the video.

Fifa 23 has two separate soundtracks: one for the game and another tailored specifically for Volta mode where Takura’s song appears. e soundtrack also features familiar and new songs from artists such as Gorillaz, Bad Bunny, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Stromae, Nas, Michael Kiwanuka and many more.

Tendayi is well known for his frequent collaborations with Chase & Status and Sub Focus, as well as many other dubstep and drum and bass artists — Greedy South.
