„ TOO MANY CLOWNS

A gang of clowns have been causing mayhem in Laindon, Essex, after creepy music and mask-wearing characters leaves residents feeling scared to leave their own homes

People living in a town have been left feeling petrified after a gang of clowns were spotted driving around in the middle of the night.

Concerned people in Laindon, Essex, reported seeing the mask-wearing characters in a van which was blaring out creepy music during the early hours of the morning .

Some even reported being too scared to leave their own homes.

The music has been heard in Laindon and Langdon — causing confusion and concern among local residents.

One worried man said he was so upset by the 2am drama that he’s now scared to leave his house at night, claiming four clowns even chased him along the road.

The 30-year-old, who wanted to warn others in the area, said: "I have been followed by four men in a van who looked like they were wearing clown costumes. I started to run as they were following me, and eventually managed to get away.

"They also had a massive speaker on top of the van which was playing creepy music. It has made me feel really scared to walk out late at night on my own.

"It worries me that this is happening in my area, as it is scary, creepy and weird. I just want anyone who is travelling around Laindon late at night to please be careful."

Taking to local social media groups, people have warned others of the "scary clown music" that has been heard during the early hours.

One person said: "So glad it wasn't just me. We think it might have been some work over the train line possibly." Another added it was "so scary". According to The Echo, a mum-of-four also heard the strange music outside of her own home.

She added: "I have four children, and late at night these men are playing ridiculously scary music keeping them awake going around Laindon.

"My children now want to move as they are scared. We just don’t know what to do."

The creepy clown craze links back to 2016 where sightings of so-called creepy clowns emerged as what seemed to be a "funny prank" to scare others.

Despite originating in the US, the crazy was quickly picked up here in the UK sparking several warnings from police forces across the country.
