OVER the past two decades, the Nyaradzo Life Assurance Company (NLACO) has become a well-trusted provider of quality funeral assurance solutions to the people of Zimbabwe, within the nation itself and outside its borders. The company has gone above and beyond in the provision of efficient and quality service to current and potential clients.

Through its various divisions and initiatives, the company is keen to play an active, significant and positive role in the country’s economic turnaround programme.

NLACO is a wholly-owned Zimbabwean company with its head office situated in Harare, Zimbabwe.

Nyaradzo Life Assurance Company

NLACO began operations on March 1, 2001 with only the Assurance Division. It has over the years developed to offer a diverse range of funeral assurance products as well as funeral services.

The services division focuses on the provision of professional funeral services.

NLACO can now be found in 27 towns and cities countrywide as well as beyond our borders in South Africa and in the United Kingdom.

Life Assurance

This division markets and sells life insurance and funeral assurance products which are split into Individual and Group policies.

The primary plans available, which have been well-received by the market, are the Score Pack Plan, Six-Pack Plan and Group Policy Plans.

Funeral Services

This division began operations on May 1, 2003, with the primary objective of providing professional and quality funeral services to policyholders as well as walk-in clients.

One of its core focus is to assist the bereaved in order to carry out the last send-off of their loved ones in a manner that helps ease the difficult process of mourning and grief.

The division operates a fleet of buses, hearses, ambulances and mini-buses for the transportation of mourners throughout Zimbabwe.

The buses have become the company’s trademark through the ‘Sahwira Mukuru, Umngane Omkhulu’ brand.

The services division operates from modern, spacious state-of-the-art service centres.

Sahwira Events and Lifestyle

This arm is divided into two main wings; Events and Lifestyle. Sahwira Events offers a wide range of products and modern mobile equipment that is unique to the Zimbabwe market.

The equipment comprises mobile restrooms, showers, sleepers, kitchens and offices. These are available to hire for any event such as corporate functions, weddings, anniversaries, funerals, morals etc.

Sahwira Events also has on offer, tents and chairs, event decor, water bowsers, generatorpowered flood lights, mobile toilets, gas heaters, generators and PA systems.

The Lifestyle wing operates two luxurious houseboats which are based at Lake Kariba. The Sahwira Houseboat comfortably sleeps 26 people, whilst This Is It sleeps 12.

With a four-man crew on each boat to cater to patrons, one can be assured of a relaxing holiday where they can cruise the lake with magnificent views of sunsets and wildlife, enjoy bird watching and fish for bream and tiger fish.

Houseboat and This Is It are available for hire all year round for family vacations, church gatherings, strategic planning workshops, weddings and anniversaries.

The whole experience gives an ultimate unique, exotic Sahwira experience, a warm home away from home.

The Six-Pack Plan

This is a funeral package designed with the Zimbabwean traditional values and culture in mind as it is standard Zimbabwean practice that we care for our extended families in good and bad times.

With the Six-Pack Plan, one can cover their spouse, parents and parents-in-law under one policy.

One can also personalise their Six-Pack by nominating any five members of their extended family.

The Score Pack Plan

This plan provides funeral cover for the primary member as well as an unlimited number of their dependants.

It is entirely up to them to choose the number of people they would like covered. Its uniqueness is in its flexibility on the number of people that can be covered.

In all instances, members’ children under the age of 23 years are covered free of charge.

With the Score Pack Plan, not only will one “SCORE” for themselves and their family but their favourite local soccer team as well.

As an added benefit, one is able to support their local (PSL) team at no additional cost to them.

For each premium payment made, one’s nominated soccer club will get paid a certain percentage. (Only six football clubs currently participate in this arrangement).

The Conventional Policy

The conventional policies cover you, your spouse and children but no extended family members can be covered. This type of policy has a maturity period of 25 years.

We have three products, namely budget, classic and executive, the differentiating factors being the type of coffin/casket as well as additional benefits such as the provision of a bus and video recording.

Premiums are calculated according to age and family composition (single, single parent and two parents).

Group Policy

The Group Policy covers a large number of people at the same time thereby providing funeral benefits to many people at affordable premium rates.

Groups include employees of companies, burial societies and other similar organisations and associations. Some forward-looking corporate organisations use this as an additional benefit for their employees by contributing to the Group Policy.

Civil servants and uniformed forces group plan

This is a group policy open to all civil servants (including uniformed forces) employed by the Zimbabwe government.

Sahwira International Plan

This plan caters for the diaspora, which is currently South Africa and the United Kingdom.

It is aimed at ensuring that our people living in foreign lands, have an affordable and efficient way of repatriating their loved ones back home for burial.

Similar to the other local plans, it offers funeral cover to Zimbabwean citizens and their immediate family, covering the principal member, spouse and a maximum of five children below the age of twenty-three.

Children above twenty-three are catered for subject to the payment of additional premiums.
