Ex-NRZ workers protest

FORMER National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) employees are up in arms with authorities for allegedly failing to investigate complaints of corruption raised against the parastatal’s general manager Respina Zinyanduko.

The workers petitioned President Emmerson Mnangagwa and the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) in July seeking a probe into Zinyanduko and her suspension accusing her of corruption and mismanagement.

According to the ex-NRZ workers, there has been no probe to date.

“What leaves a lot to be desired is why ZACC, the Transport ministry and all responsible authorities seem unmoved by all the allegations of corruption, fraud and nepotism at NRZ,” ,” the workers said in a statement last week.

“Is someone in the highest o ces of the land bene tting somehow from all the rot at the parastatal? Is the NRZ Board so compromised that they cannot investigate the allegations being raised or are they part of the rot as well?”

ZACC chairperson Justice Loice Matanda-Moyo acknowledged receiving the latest complaint and said investigations were being done on “a rst come rst serve basis.” - TAPFUMANEI MUCHABAIWA
