ZANU PF has declared that its regalia should now become a uniform for people in Chikomba district, Mashonaland East province, to stop the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) from penetrating the area.

CCC has reportedly made inroads in the district, with its visibility worrying the ruling party leadership.

In a message by Chikomba Zanu PF district co-ordinating committee (DCC) commissariat department seen by NewsDay, party members have been urged to wear regalia at all times.

“The DCC commissariat department wishes to advise you all to wear our party regalia wherever we are. It’s high time we show our visibility as a party and safeguard our hard-earned independence. Let us be vigilant. The CCC is moving around and it has no place here,” read the message.

Addressing party officials at a provincial co-ordinating committee held recently in Marondera, Zanu PF provincial chairperson Daniel Garwe confirmed that CCC had infiltrated a number of rural areas, among them Sadza growth point.

Mashonaland East province has traditionally been regarded as a Zanu PF stronghold since independence in 1980.

The Zanu PF party is targeting to mobilise at least 800 000 votes in the province ahead of next year’s elections.

The opposition only won two out of the 23 constituencies, which are Goromonzi South and Marondera Central during the 2018 elections.
